Our story

Fashion design and couture garment construction have been our passions for over twenty-five years. We find great joy in making custom garments for our clients. We consider every garment a work of art. Dr. Laura Stout, owner of One of a Kind Couture, learned how to sew on industrial sewing machines at the age of sixteen when she worked part time at a fashion designer’s clothing manufacturing company. The love of fashion and sewing began there. She began sewing for clients, making wedding gowns in the late 1980’s. She studied fashion design at the University of North Texas and earned a Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) in fashion design with a minor in merchandising in 1997. Bridal Jackets Galore was born in 2008. It is a successful bridal bolero, shrug and shawl company with customers all over the world. One of a Kind Couture was born from Bridal Jackets Galore because we love to make custom garments for your special events.
